Arbitration Win in Dispute with Former Employee.
Our Securities Practice team won a substantial FINRA arbitration award on behalf of an investment bank in a dispute with one of its former financial advisors concerning a loan. Our team brought claims following the former advisor’s failure to pay back the principal and accrued interest atthe end of his employment with the bank.
The former advisor asserted a six-count counterclaim against our client, including breach of contract, promissory estoppel, fraud and deceit, and negligence and breach of duty. Following three days of arbitration hearings, FINRA ruled in favor of our client and denied the former advisor’s counterclaims in their entirety. The ruling for our client included the loan principal, incurred interest, and our client’s attorney’s fees and costs.
